Volkswagen (VW) has agreed to pay California, which will include paying the California Air Resources Board (CARB), an additional £54 million for the remaining 15,000 vehicles affected in the German automaker’s cheating scandal.
The settlement is reportedly provided with the intentions of mitigating the environmental harm caused by the cheating.

Some of the Member States’ inaction in the VW emissions scandal has led to the European Commission taking matters into their own hands.
It was only a matter of time before the European Commission stepped in, we felt. There is so much inaction by the UK government and other Member State governments that its almost allowing VW to come away from this worldwide mess unpunished…

VW management board under scrutiny…
The latest twist in the VW car emissions scandal surrounds further criminal investigations made against management at the German auto makers at the centre of the “dieselgate” emissions scandal.
Many VW officials on the management board are now subject to criminal investigations in the U.S. as the world holds its breath to find out just who knew what, and how much was known…

VW may never hear the end of the cheating emissions scandal, as far as I’m concerned!
Recently elected London Mayor, Sadiq Khan, wrote a letter to the German automakers asking them to compensate the Transport for London (TfL) £2.5 million.
This is on top of the thousands we act for, as well as the hundreds of thousands worldwide all asking for their fair share of justice.

The French manufacturer, Renault, may be subject to the next ‘big car emissions scandal’.
Recently, DGCCRF, the French anti-fraud investigators, referred Renault to prosecutors in what seems to be a deja vu scenario with VW. The reason for the referral is because allegations have arisen surrounding alleged abnormal emissions of the NOx pollutants from their diesel engines.

The pressure has been continually piling on for the VW Group as they have been given deadline after deadline for rectifying the vehicles, including recently 80,000 larger and luxury diesel-powered 3.0 litre vehicles involved in the ongoing emissions scandal.
As we continue to fight for the rights of victims here in the UK, we expect far better results than what we have had so far.

It’s amazing how VW can appear to use deflective techniques in an attempt to move on from the emissions scandal while refusing their customers – i.e. the victims – their right to compensation. With their new electric vehicles project and the settlement agreement in the U.S., it seems as if VW believe they are recovering well from the scandal.
But this is far from the truth, as the company continues to fend off legal proceedings in multiple jurisdictions, and we won’t be backing down!

Biggest understatement of the century?
It seems clear that VW chief executive, Matthias Mueller, would have done things differently in regards to the company installing the alleged “defeat device” into diesel vehicles; if he were afforded the option of time travel, of course.
If only one could turn back the clocks, eh?

Some 311,209 out of 475,000 VW U.S. vehicle owners have reportedly opted in for the $10 billion settlement to compensate for losses suffered as a result of the VW emissions scandal. VW is trying to regain its reputation and credibility in the marketplace, and their remedial actions in the U.S. have proven to be acceptable.
Yet despite this, UK and European customers remain ignored as VW continue to refuse compensation to victims of their scandal this side of the ocean.
Our action consisting of thousands of victims has never been more important than now!

The blows for Volkswagen don’t seem to end.
In August, Italy’s Antitrust Authority (AGCOM) fined the German manufacturer 5 million Euros.
The authority are alleging that VW misinformed vehicle owners of the real diesel emissions results. The case concerns vehicles sold by VW between 2009 and 2015, but includes Audi, Seat and Skoda.
A member of our team recently attended a conference in Brussels where a delegate from the Italian group involved in the case was in attendance.

It seemed like things could not get any worse for the German manufacturing giants following the Volkswagen Emissions Scandal. However, the plot has thickened.
Multinational engineering and electronics company, Bosch, are alleged to be the Robin to Volkswagen’s Batman. Several reports, as well as claimant lawyers in the U.S., allege Bosch as a “knowing and active participant” (source) in assisting Volkswagen with cheating emissions and building the “defeat device” itself.
This device was installed in over 11 million vehicles so that vehicles would appear less polluting and pass tests with ease. Bosch continues to state that these claims are “wild and unfounded”.

July is an important month for car sales in Ireland, as it is the time of year when consumers look to upgrade their cars. The Central Statistics Office (CSO) released figures last month that showed an annual increase of 5.5% for car sales in Ireland.
It showed the steady rise in demand from the same time in 2015 for brands such as Audi, increasing sales by 17%, and Mercedes by 36%. Land Rover also saw an increase in sales last month compared to 2015 figures.
But Volkswagen sales are dropping in the wake of one of the biggest auto industry scandals the world has ever seen.
