Register Your Volkswagen Claim
""You might be able to claim up to a 100% refund of the purchase price of your car.""
You may have seen the Car Emissions Lawyers in the press recently, in respect of additional claims we are bringing under the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 (CPUT).
The CPUT Regulations are intended to protect consumers from unfair or misleading trading practices. The Regulations allow those that qualify to bring claims under these regulations for up to 100% of the purchase price of the vehicle. The percentage refunded may depend on the seriousness of the prohibited practice. The prohibited practice in this case being the fitting of the illegal "defeat device" (a hidden software code) which was installed by Volkswagen to cheat the emissions tests.
To be eligible to make an additional claim under CPUT you must have purchased or made payments towards an affected vehicle on or after the 1st October 2014.
We intend to bring claims under CPUT for owners who:
- Purchased an affected vehicle (old or new) from an approved VW Group dealership on or after the 1 October 2014; or
- Purchased an affected vehicle (old or new) from an approved VW Group dealership using VW Finance and having made any payment under the finance agreement on or after 1 October 2014
"We were the first firm to issue proceedings in the High Court against Volkswagen and intend to be the first firm to bring claims against official Volkswagen dealerships. The dealerships would then be expected to meet claims from their insurance and/or would need to seek an indemnity from Volkswagen."
- Aman Johal, Head of Litigation
YOU SHOULD NOTE THAT IF YOU OWN OR OWNED AN AFFECTED VEHICLE PRE-SCANDAL BUT DO NOT QUALIFY FOR A CPUT CLAIM THEN YOU CAN STILL CLAIM FOR COMPENSATION.
