Ford Emissions Compensation Action

As one of latest car manufacturers to become embroiled in the car emissions scandals of recent years, Ford has come under suspicion following allegations that it may have used illegal defeat device technology. As we continue to investigate the allegations, those who own affected vehicles may be able to claim Ford emissions compensation. The carmaker, like others, denies any wrongdoing at all.

After Volkswagen was implicated in the dieselgate scandal in 2015, a number of other manufacturers were similarly accused of manipulating their cars to pass emissions tests in some way. The majority of carmakers have been associated with excessive nitrous oxide (NOx) emissions allegations, and the accusations against Ford have also linked it to allegations of the overproduction of carbon emissions.

If it does emerge that customers have been deceived regarding the emissions output of their vehicles, there may be a case for a Ford emissions group action, in which claimants could recover thousands of pounds. We have been invested in the fight against carmakers over such allegations from the beginning, having initiated High Court proceedings against Volkswagen in early 2016. Now, we are determined to ensure that all those affected by car emissions scandals can access the justice they deserve where allegations are found to be true.

The allegations against Ford

Pressure has been mounting on car manufacturers in recent years, with their emissions practices being scrutinised by regulators and investigators. It was within this climate of growing controversy that Ford reportedly referred itself to the Environmental Protection in America in 2019, after there were concerns within the company about its previous assessment of carbon emissions output.

Ford has also been involved in the investigations led by the KBA, the German vehicle regulator, since 2015. There are allegations that Ford, like several other manufactures, has been involved in the use of defeat devices to cheat emissions tests. Like others, they deny that they have done anything wrong.

Ford emissions compensation claims

We are rigorously pursuing investigations into Ford to identify exactly which vehicles have been affected by emissions irregularities, if any. According to current information, we can take on Ford emissions compensation claims from anyone who purchased a Ford diesel vehicle in England and Wales that was manufactured from 2007-2020.

If Ford is found to have broken emissions regulations, it may likely have broken consumer law as well. We may be able to bring claims on the basis that owners were misled into thinking that their vehicles were compliant but, in reality, this was not the case.

In addition, we may be able to bring claims on the basis of a breach of the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations. Under this legislation, Ford emissions compensation claimants could be entitled to between 25-100% of the original price paid for their vehicles.

When the “Dieselgate Scandal” first hit the headlines in 2015, we were one of the first firms to take on claims for clients, and we were later appointed to the Steering Committee responsible for the overall conduct of the Volkswagen Group Litigation Order. Our leading role in diesel emissions litigation means we already have the expertise and infrastructure to take on actions against more carmakers.
