What’s going on with the Volkswagen emissions compensation claims?

Right now Volkswagen UK are refusing to offer compensation for victims who have been affected by the scandal. They’re trying to suggest that there is “no loss” to victims, but we don’t think this is the case at all. Their defence to the claims so far doesn’t really have a leg to stand on, and we remain absolutely confident that we will secure payouts for our clients.
We’ve already commenced court proceedings back at the start of the year, and we’re paving the way for victims as our battle for justice keeps on growing and we continue to accept new cases on a daily basis.
Since Volkswagen decided, for the time being, to refuse paying compensation to UK victims, we naturally had no choice but to start court proceedings against them. For those who are already a part of our action, they’ll be safely registered and on the books for claims prior to any court imposed deadlines.

Finally, what about the U.S. action?
Volkswagen were under way more pressure from U.S. government to form a practical solution which, in our view, is why they have agreed to settle U.S. claims first. They could have faced monumental fines had they have not proposed an effective solution in April, whereas here in the UK it’s pretty much been left to us lawyers to fight for the rights of victims, as the government doesn’t appear to be interested in threatening VW with fines or anything else.
There may have been half as many affected vehicles in the U.S. but it could have been the most expensive lawsuit had they have tried to defend it. Either way we remain confident we can win the claims here in the UK in any event!
