Our emissions group actions are important for a number of reasons, both in terms of punishments for alleged breaches of the law and how this can impact us all, and in terms of justice for consumers.

We are more aware than ever when it comes to the climate emergency and the global challenges we face when it comes to our planet and our environment. Emissions laws and regulations are in place for very good and very important reasons, so any situation where carmakers have breached the law should be met with full and proper punishment.

This is what we want to achieve as part of our emissions class actions, as well as justice for victims who have been affected from a consumer perspective which is what we can achieve within the confines of the law.

The climate emergency

You will have probably seen so much of the climate emergency mentioned in the mainstream media over the last few weeks, especially with the recent Cop26 conference taking place in Glasgow. The conferences were about what more can be done to protect the environment and reduce pollution caused by dangerous emissions, which contribute to the global crisis that we and our planet are facing.

Ultimately, far more can be done to prevent illnesses and deaths that can be caused as a direct consequence of toxic emissions. When the World Health Organisation (WHO) updated their measurements for people living in places that breach air quality limits, 100% of Londoners were reportedly in breach. This is despite the measures that have already been taken to try to tackle the particular heightened dangers in our capital.

We can avoid the tragedy of death and illness, and we must remember that the poorest can be hit hardest as social injustice can lead to greater deaths and illnesses. It is clear that we all need to come together and need to do as much as we can to stop the climate emergency, save lives and avoid health risks through reducing pollution, and protect our already fragile environment.

That tackles what we can do moving ahead. But what about what we can do about what has already happened?

Emissions group actions are important for punishment and justice

We can talk about what more needs to be done to make things better for the future, but we must also account for the past. And when it comes to deliberate cheating in order to secretly break regulations, our emissions group actions are important.

Our emissions group actions are important to serve as some form of punishment for any carmaker that has cheated and has broken the law. Whilst many continue to deny any wrongdoing, and we are not yet at the end of the long road of investigations and litigation, some findings have shown that technology has been used as a form of defeat device. This meant that more dangerous emissions were being polluted than thought, and some scientific data has blamed potentially thousands of premature deaths on potential emissions cheating.

When it comes to big corporations, hitting them where it hurts the most usually means hitting them in the pockets. This is why our emissions group actions are important, as they can serve as proper punishment for what has been done, where allegations are proven. Further, from the consumer perspective, those who have been affected can also face losses and have faced their own form of injustice, and this can also be accounted for as part of a case.
