About the Mercedes emissions recall
The Mercedes emissions recall actions have been ongoing over the last few years but gained increased momentum after a key court ruling in Germany in 2018. The German Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) ordered a mandatory recall of Mercedes-Benz diesel vehicles in Europe, with some 670,000 vehicles understood to be affected.
The recall that started in 2017 is understood to affect over 3 million vehicles in total.
The recall is understood to involve dozens of models with Daimler applying software updates in relation to emissions irregularities. It is alleged that the carmaker has used “defeat device” technology like VW had done which triggered the original dieselgate emissions scandal in 2015.
Changes applied as part of the recall should eliminate any alleged defeat device that may be resulting in vehicles emitting far more dangerous NOx than they ought to be doing. As we know from the VW action where we have represented over 10,000 claimants and were appointed with a seat on the Steering Committee in 2018, recall changes can have an adverse impact on the vehicles. We conducted extensive research from our significant Volkswagen client base and found many instances where vehicle performances were worse after the recall had been applied. If this is also the case in for the Daimler recalls, we may be able to take this into account for the compensation action we have launched.
About the compensation action
We are representing clients who are a part of the Mercedes emissions recall on a No Win, No Fee basis. We are pursuing compensation claims for them which could result in claimants receiving thousands of pounds in damages.
Carmakers must be punished for any behaviour that could cause damage to human health and to the environment. Where there is a finding made that Daimler has also used defeat devices in their diesel vehicles, we will hold them to account. For those owners in the UK whose vehicles are affected by the issue, compensation cases can be pursued.
With our No Win, No Fee representation, what have you got to lose in making a claim with us?
About Your Lawyers
We are Your Lawyers; also known as The Car Emissions Lawyers. We represent diesel owners affected by the Mercedes emissions recall, as well as VW, Porsche and Jaguar owners.
We always believed when news of the VW scandal broke in 2015 that other carmakers may also have been behaving in a similar way. Around the world, several vehicle manufacturers have faced inquiries, criminal prosecutions and compensation actions. Our mission is simple: we will hold carmakers to account where illegal software has been used, and we will fight for the rights of owners to claim the compensation that they deserve.
We were one of the first, if not the first, firms in England and Wales to be formally instructed by VW owners in 2015. We understand that we were the first to launch legal proceedings in the High Court of Justice, which we did in January 2016. As such, we have been at the forefront of emissions justice since the beginning, and we continue to fight for the rights of affected owners.
