Volkswagen Emissions Scandal – what our clients have had to say

We’re acting for thousands of affected Volkswagen Group owners – which includes Audi, SEAT, and Skoda – and we’re leading the fight for justice with court proceedings already well underway in the High Court of Justice since January.

We have been asking our clients for their thoughts on the scandal and their feelings as victims, which is important to understand because it directly affects their motivation for future vehicle purchases, which then affects the value of Volkswagen Group vehicles.

As you might expect, the news is damning…

Long time loyal customers turning their backs on Volkswagen!

Unsurprisingly a lot of customers have been buying Volkswagen vehicles for years – some for decades. We know from being involved in previous scandals that, eventually, things can sometimes settle down, and some people are not as angry as time passes. But on the flip side of things we have a lot of cases of long time and firmly established trust being broken deliberately by the German car giants.

With many people telling us they have been buying Volkswagen vehicles all their lives, they now vow to never buy another Volkswagen Group car again. Loyal customers are leaving, and we have already seen evidence of it with many owners selling cars (bearing in mind losses incurred too) and switching to competitors.

The environmentally conscious are understandably angry

A lot of our clients bought their vehicles with the environment in mind, only to discover – some after years of use – that they have been polluting and damaging the environment.

Green charities and green organisations have specifically used these vehicles because of their emissions which is a really big problem for their own image upon discovering the existence of the cheat device. For those who are concerned about the environment, NOx pollution is a big thing, which is why we have regulations to reduce NOx emissions in the first place.

A complete lack of trust now has been aired in light of the Volkswagen emissions scandal, made worse by the fact that the cheat devices were put in place intentionally, with shows a clear lack of care for the environment!

A reputation in ruins?

There have been many recalls in the past involving the automotive industry, but the emissions scandal set itself aside from the rest because of one very key additional point – Volkswagen intentionally installed the defeat devices to cheat emissions testing.

The fact this was intentional demonstrates a complete lack of regard for the law and a complete lack of care for the environment. In intentionally choosing to pull the wool over the eyes of the consumer, they have misrepresented their vehicles and tricked people in to buying them under false pretences.

Whilst the long term damage remains to be seen, clients in our action have been airing their strong anger and opposition to spending their hard earned money on Volkswagen Group vehicles in the future – and with good reason!
