Next big hearing in VW action set for March 2018

The High Court has set the next hearing for the end of March 2018 and crucial decisions will likely be made as to the direction of the VW Emission Litigation for victims in England and Wales.

Our legal team represent thousands of victims of the scandal here in the U.K., and we were the first to issue claims in the High Court in January 2016. Since we launched our action, a number of other firms eventually followed suit, but we remain confident we will be appointed as a Lead Solicitor in the action.

If you have yet to join our VW group action, we’re urging people to make their decision about claiming ASAP given the next important hearing is set in the next few months. You don’t want to miss any court-imposed deadlines.

There are around 1.2 million affected vehicles in the U.K. We have been contacted by tens of thousands of people asking for help and advice, and we quickly launched our action and issued court proceedings for cases shortly after VW confirmed they are refusing to compensate victims. Since then, we’ve been working hard and partnering with lawyers worldwide, and we are working closely with the Global Justice Network as part of a global front against VW for their abhorrent actions.

There’s so much more to this scandal than cars needing a recall “fix”

Far more dangerous NOx has been polluted in to the air we breathe because VW intentionally installed so-called “defeat devices” into their vehicles that could recognise when the vehicle was being tested, so emissions-reducing controls could be engaged. In the real-world, however, up to 40 times more NOx was spewing out.

We think it’s very important to recognise the human element here.

Some experts have done their homework and suggest that the extra pollution caused by VW vehicles has directly caused or attributed toward NOx-related deaths.

Some have suggested thousands here in the U.K. have been adversely affected because of the extra NOx being polluted in to our air secretly by VW. When you take this research in to account, you realise this scandal is far more than a few vehicles needing a software re-jig; it’s about our health.

Our families’ health. Our children’s health. And the health of generations to come.

This is why our action that we pioneered is so important. We want to bring VW to justice for what they’ve done. This was not some accident or simple mistake; this was an intentionally orchestrated operation to ensure vehicles could pass important emissions regulations whilst polluting way more in real-world circumstances.

Who would do such a thing? Do they have no care for the environment at all?

At present, VW deny they have done anything wrong in the U.K. They admit wrongdoing in the U.S., but they say that differences in the laws over here mean they technically have no legal case to answer.

We disagree. In our view, this is an absurd position to take. The only way to punish these massive corporations who are wealthy beyond belief is to hit them where it hurts; in the pocket. We believe VW should pay for what they’ve done, and they can do this by compensating the victims of the scandal they created,

Come on, VW; do the honourable thing and settle the action.
