After the U.S. District Judge, Charles Breyer, approved of the $14.7 billion settlement in the U.S., VW may have thought that the dust was about to settle a little in terms of this ongoing scandal.

But we always seem to have something to blog about, as more and more developments about the scandal are coming to light all the time. In this latest story, Californian authorities are directly accusing Audi of being complicit in the use of so-called “defeat devices” for CO2 emissions as well!

CO2 emissions and whether there are any relatable issues has long been on our radar. Now, officials from the California Air Resources Board (CARB) have allegedly found that some Audi vehicles appear to have been altered to produce lower carbon dioxide emissions when tested, in comparison to when it is on the roads.

It almost seems like déjà vu, does it not? This is pretty much what has happened with NOx scandal, which already affects Audi who are a part of the overall Volkswagen Group.

U.S. environmental officials allegedly found out about Audi’s cheating four months ago. In the midst of VW’s investigations, this was first reported by the German newspaper, Bild am Sonntag.

It’s worrying that hundreds of thousands of Audi A6 and A8 sedans and Q5 sport-utility vehicles could be in the next line-up of vehicles that contain some form of “cheating software” and may have emitted more carbon dioxide outside of the regulated limit.

The new revelations could set the German manufacturers back financially once again, as well as further damaging their reputation; again! It seemed like the VW Group were trying to get back on their feet with the launch of their new electric vehicles in the recent Paris motor show display, but the scandals are never ending.

Carbon dioxide emissions

The new allegations may not seem to surprise many, as VW has already firmly attained a reputation of “cheating and deceiving” customers. While the VW diesel scandal surrounded the hazardous nitrogen oxide, this potential new Audi scandal revolves around the dangerous greenhouse gas carbon dioxide.

Carbon dioxide, as a well-known greenhouse gas, is one of the most commonly associated gases with climate change. Burning fuels leads to the emission of carbon dioxide, which is not only affecting the atmosphere, but has also made the oceans 30% more acidic, according to some studies. It’s not just bad for the environment, but it also has health impacts like NOx does as well.

Join us and fight for justice!

This will be the biggest group action that the U.K. has seen, with thousands of victims already involved in our action. We are leading the way in the UK with our cases issued in London’s High Court of Justice as we act for thousands across the country.

Do not let another ‘big company’ like the German manufacturers get away the deceit and the losses that they have caused to you. Do not let the eleventh biggest company in the world ‘do as they wish’.

We want VW to show their remorse in their scandalous actions, and the only way I believe this can be achieved is through compensating U.K. victims in the same as they have done with their U.S. victims.
