More than half of children being exposed to illegal levels of pollution is another sound reason to make sure Volkswagen are punished

Your Lawyers Mercedes emissions compensation

With more than half of UK children said to be living in areas with illegal levels of air pollution, it’s clear why Volkswagen must be punished for their cheat device scandal.

When they decided to intentionally fit cheat devices into vehicles so they could pass emission testing but pollute more dangerous NOx outside of test conditions, innocent people have suffered. Air quality has been underestimated as a result of cheat devices skewing the figures, and people are subjected to greater harm than expected.

Why Volkswagen must be punished!

It’s clear that Volkswagen put profits before people when they decided to use illegal “defeat devices”. Although they say they haven’t broken any laws here in the UK, and dispute the technicalities of a “defeat device”, we are confident in our case against them.

With experts telling us that thousands of people will have died prematurely as a result of the additional NOx being produced by Volkswagen, Audi, SEAT and Skoda vehicles involved in the emissions scandal, action must be taken. Further studies have indicated that a shocking 8.3 million children, which equates to just over 60% of all under-18-year-olds, live in areas where harmful pollutant levels exceed legal limits as well; findings that are from 2015, i.e. the year the Volkswagen Emissions Scandal broke.

Unacceptable Volkswagen behaviour!

It’s bad enough trying to limit dangerous emissions like NOx without companies like Volkswagen cheating to make sure their vehicles passed the tests yet polluted more than expected. NOx is a dangerous pollutant that contributes to countless early deaths around the world, and there is a very good reason as to why we have legislation to limit its effects.

We are absolutely firm in our stance on this that Volkswagen must be punished for their actions, and the pending class action we have been at the heart of since the very beginning of when the scandal broke is the way to do this. Consumers deserve to receive damages as victims of the scandal, and Volkswagen deserve to be punished for what they have done.

They must not be allowed to get away with such abhorrent behaviour.
