Volkswagen Scandal – What can you do about it?

You’ve bought what you were told was a high performance and efficient vehicle, which you’ve probably paid more for with the promise that it will be better for the environment and better for you in terms of fuel economy. And then the Volkswagen scandal broke; and like millions worldwide, you are being told that your vehicle has been fitted with sophisticated technology that is designed to cheat emissions testing.

If you’re angry, we don’t blame you. In fact most of our clients who have joined our huge group action have said how angry and how betrayed they feel. So what can you do about it?

The Volkswagen scandal is one of the biggest scandals in history. With 11 million vehicles worldwide being affected – 1.2 million of which are on the roads here in the UK – the effects of this scandal and the ramifications are going to be monumental.

Volkswagen is a very wealthy company. They have set aside around £4.7bn to deal with the scandal, and are thought to have around £25bn in cash – which doesn’t even include assets! We’re till amazed that a company of such standing would intentionally deceive people and think they can get away with it, but they clearly have the finances to deal with the scandal without a problem.

It makes you wonder.

It’s remarkable that this has been allowed to happen in the first place. We’re astounded that they thought they could get away with it. So if you are one of the many angry consumers who feel let down and betrayed, we can tell you now what you can do about it.

Our Group Action

Our Consumer Rights Lawyers and our Car Emissions Team have set up a group action to help victims who want to claim the compensation they deserve. You’re entitled to recover compensation for financial losses like the deprecation of your vehicle value; increased fuel costs; compensation if you have a finance agreement; and recovery of amounts you paid as a premium for having what you were told was a better car.

A lot of our clients have said that they were given a real hard sell when it came to buying their vehicle. They were told that the ‘clean diesel’ engines were not only better for the environment but far better in terms of fuel economy and efficiency. A lot of people were convinced to pay more for something they thought would give them better value.

Let’s face it – fuel economy and running costs is a huge factor in our decision to buy a vehicle.
Sadly they were deceived. The vendors were simply passing on the performance information directly from Volkswagen, so it’s not fair to blame them. This fraudulent and intentional way of deceiving the consumer is set to cause thousands of pounds of loss to the innocent car owners.

So if you want to join our action, get in touch today. You’re not alone and we are here to help you.
