Some 311,209 out of 475,000 VW U.S. vehicle owners have reportedly opted in for the $10 billion settlement to compensate for losses suffered as a result of the VW emissions scandal. VW is trying to regain its reputation and credibility in the marketplace<\/a>, and their remedial actions in the U.S. have proven to be acceptable.<\/p>\n

Yet despite this, UK and European customers remain ignored<\/strong> as VW continue to refuse compensation to victims of their scandal this side of the ocean.<\/p>\n

Our action consisting of thousands of victims has never been more important than now!
\n
\nThe packages offered for U.S. victims include cash compensation and buy-backs as well, or having the option for the recall.<\/p>\n

However, the Environmental Protection Agency has yet to approve of VW’s repair plan, so it could well mean that VW vehicle owners could get their vehicles bought back at a premium. The German manufacturer’s first proposal was to retrofit the vehicles with catalytic converters to break down the nitrogen oxide into harmless substances, but this was reportedly rejected. Off the back of continually reported problems caused by the recalls and test recalls performed so far, we shall sit tightly until VW’s repair proposal is accepted by the EPA, but we won’t be holding our breath.<\/p>\n

It could be a while until there is a suitable working repair plan put into place.<\/p>\n

For those who opted out of the settlement agreement, or failed to register by the passed deadline, they still have the opportunity to sue the German manufacturer, or find another way of redress, according to attorneys. VW’s consumer class-action attorney, Elizabeth Cabraser, said: “there is resounding support for this consumer class settlement and the substantial benefits it provides”.<\/p>\n

This class-action type of lawsuit is no stranger to VW. Last month, attorneys Klaud Nieding and Andreas Tilp filed around 6,000 lawsuits in Germany against VW on behalf of investors. On top of that, we have our leading action here in the UK which is also in the thousands and is already in the High Court of Justice.<\/p>\n

Victims are still understandably unhappy<\/h2>\n

Although many have opted for the settlement, it is by no means a happy consensus for all.<\/p>\n

Media reports recently indicated that some customers have expressed that they bought the car because they drove long distances and loved the fuel economy. If they choose the settlement option, they could lose out if they are punished for the excess mileage in the buyback value.<\/p>\n

By no means is this the end…<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is not the end of VW’s miserable ride.<\/p>\n

This settlement is only in the U.S., and VW still faces huge civil and criminal actions globally: from us here in the U.K., to Germany, Italy, South Korea, and Australia.<\/p>\n

With European victims still being refused access to compensation, our big fight goes on.<\/p>\n
